Medical Transportation Driver
POSITION SUMMARY
The Medical Transportation Driver will safely operate the Medical Van and transport clients on a flexible schedule (appointments) from residence to place of medical appointments and will effectively interact with the public. The Medical Transportation Driver will adhere to the policies as outlined in the Paul First Nations Policy and Procedures
QUALIFICATIONS
Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Medical Transportation Van Driver will regularly perform duties specified under essential duties and vehicle maintenance requirements relating to the safe operation of the vehicle and transporting of clients.

The Medical Transportation Van Driver will maintain an effective working relationship with the Medical Transportation Manager, the Health Services team, and clients.
Education

Grade 12 education

Must have a valid driver's license. Class to be determined by the requirements for operating transportation vans as specified by Alberta Motor Transportation.

Must provide an annual driver's abstract.

Must have Standard First Aid/CPR certificate.

Basic computer literacy.
Skills/Abilities

Knowledge and experience operating a passenger van on public streets and highways.

Knowledge of Alberta laws and regulations for safe driving with passengers. Must carry the appropriate class of operator's license to drive a passenger van, either Class 1, 2, or 4.

Knowledge of guidelines and practices relating to transportation of clients using community owned vehicles for the Medical Transport Team.

Ability to read, interpret, and understand maps, directions, daily assignment schedules and instructions.

Knowledge of basic calculations to assist in writing vehicle reports and logging of entries.

Ability to operate a cell phone or two-way radio for purpose of communicating with Medical Transportation Manager. Necessary acceptable precautions must be taken to use cell phone while on a trip and the driver must stop and park safely before using the cell phone. Cell phones or two-way radios issued by the Medical Transportation Department are strictly for business use and not for personal use.

Hand eye coordination and dexterity to operate and maintain passenger van daily. The work requires periods of close attention while driving in traffic and under adverse driving conditions.
