My name is Shinnez Yellowbird and my role here at PFN Health Services is community health representative. I have worked for Health Services in many different capacities since 2001 and I am pleased to be able to live and work in the community for many years. Paul First Nation is my home.

Teri L'Hirondelle
Teri graduated from the University of Alberta in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science in nursing. She began her career at the Glenrose Hospital working on the Orthopedic Rehabilitation unit. Later she transitioned into corrections nursing and finally Indigenous Services Canada-homecare. Teri started to work at Paul First Nation Health Services in 2018. She enjoys nursing in the Paul community and learning from the members about their history and culture.

Larry is the Water Monitor and has worked for Health for two years. Previous role I worked as Homecare handyman/water monitor. Born in Hobbema, Alberta, at his Grandmothers place (Annie Pastew/Saulteaux) and has since been in Paul Band for all his life contributing to the wellbeing of the community.

I am the medical transportation Coordinator/NHIB Navigator. I am married here in PFN and been here since 1994. I have been employed with Paul First Nation in other capacities. Among other things, I have volunteered my time in the community and I enjoy being a part of Wihnemne.

I started to work with Medical Transportation in December 2019 as a driver. My duties are to coordinate daily trips for medical or dental appointments, enter data in the MTRS. April 2022, I was promoted to MT/administrator.

I am Annette Bird. Most of you know me as Phyllis. I am married to a class 1 plumber of Paul Band. I’ve lived in this reserve for 48 years. I speak my language (Cree.) I originated from Louis Bull tribe, but I am proud to call Paul Band my reserve. Also I am proud to be working with my fellow members and community.

My name is Brooke Rain. I am the receptionist at the Wellness Center. I’ve been working with PFN Health Services for 2+ years now. My duties are: Reception duties, planning events, etc. I also help with other tasks when needed.

My name is Natasha Bearhead and I am a Peacemaker over at the Wellness building.
I have ten plus years of experience working with our community members of Paul First Nation through a variety of roles, this will be my first year working with addictions and mental health which also comes with a variety of roles. I specialize in Justice related issues, and I am willing to help assist our members with questions they may have.

Aba wathdedd community members near and far. Coming from the community of Paul Band, and raised by my grandparents Mary and Alexis Rain, I truly love and acknowledge where I come from. I have worked off reserve the whole entirety of my adult life, but always returning home. This time I have returned home to work for the community as a Community Support Worker at PFN Wellness Centre.
Stop by, have a coffee and chat and I will try my best with the life knowledge I have to assist in any way I can.

My name is Celeste.
My mother is Deanne Rain and my father is Lonny Potts. I was raised by my late maternal grandmother Mary E Rain for about 15 years.
I grew up on the reserve, lived off reserve for maybe 6 years in my adult years.
I plan to use my experience as a youth ambassador (for various programs) and Nakoda Youth Alliance Campout chaperone to hopefully make a positive impact with the youth/young adults from my reserve.
I am open to listening to ideas, concerns and/or general conversation regarding our young people.
I am proud to be from Wihnemne and I look forward to be working within our community, for our community.

My name is Lori Bird and I am from Paul First Nation. I am a mother and grandmother. I have been working with the elders since May 2021. I enjoy working with the community and our elders. Born in Toronto, moved to Alberta in the 90’s and started a family. Spent 20 years at Ironhead and now have re-located to the Health Centre where I am comfortable and happy doing custodian work.

I am born and raised on Paul First Nation. I love my community. I am still learning my traditions and culture. I love to play sports, I have been an Oilers fan since I was a little boy. I remember my late grandmother Magushin Florence Paul yelling at the tv. My Dad is late Clifford Paul (Ade/Father) and my (Ena/Mom) Karen Paul. I am the Building maintenance custodian at PFN Health. My Supervisors are Annie Bird and Brenda Rain are great to work with.

Mental Health Therapist
Etheline Blind
Registered social worker/Alberta college of Social Workers. 30 years of experience as a contracted mental health therapist with Non-Insured health benefits/ Indigenous services Canada. My work description: Counselor, therapist and facilitator. Focuses on life events on ancestral and historical trauma. Members of George Gordon First Nation / Treaty 4 / Saskatchewan. My approach therapy combines culturally based knowledge and western models of psychotherapy. Cultural sensitivity is key to my work supporting wellness and healing to each individual. I am the wounded warrior and healer of three generations of residential School survivors and a proud mother of two wonderful and supportive adult sons.

Vinny Verghese
As a psychologist, it is important for me to meet a person where they are, and collaboratively move in a positive direction. I also believe that as a professional, it is important to have an education. My main areas of interest have been in couples counselling, trauma, alcohol/substance abuse, and risk assessment. For the past thirteen years, my practice has focused on historical and intergenerational trauma experienced by our indigenous brothers and sisters, and I have witnessed. I have worked close with many survivors of the Indian Residential and Indian Day school survivors. Their complex trauma have had deep and long histories. Many couples have gifted me the opportunity to recognize the complex trauma networks in their relationships.

Nurse in Charge

My name is April Kantor.
I am the Nurse in Charge of the public health side of the nursing at Paul Health Center. I see all the new born babies in our community, and monitor the pregnant moms in our prenatal program. I vaccinate all the babies, school aged kids and adults to protect them from diseases. I help with testing and treating STBIS, reporting, and treating dog bites, take home naloxone kits, as well as health education where needed. I am a member of Bigstone Cree Nation. I have an acreage with horses, pigs, chickens, dogs and cats. I love animals, riding my horses in the mountains and just being outdoors.

My name is Travis Sachko and I am a public health nurse at Paul First Nation Health Services. I have been a registered nurse since 2005, and have worked in various First Nations communities since 2007 in community health nursing roles. Outside of work I stay busy with family activities with my wife and 3 young boys.
